ROSE

Planet - Venus
Element - Water

Rose (Rosa damascena) is a master plant teacher & as the highest frequency plant on the planet, has touched almost every spiritual or esoteric tradition in some way. As master plant dietas spread across continents & has become part of the Shamanic traditions in her own right, carried through initiations & mystery schools for centuries.

Many people are initially drawn to her because of her association with the heart, self-love, self-care, & emotional healing, however Rose has thorns which represent another aspect of her medicine - the importance of boundaries, protection & self respect.

Rose carries the quality of the queen of duality, & unity. She teaches the integration of opposites, the masculine & feminine, the light & dark feminine, the light & shadow within ourselves. Her medicine is about loving all parts of ourselves including our shadow, our inner child & every aspect of ourselves that has developed through our life experiences.

Her medicine is also deeply connected to embodiment & invites us to bring love into our physical experience, to consider how we nourish ourselves, how we sleep, how we care for our bodies, & how we create moments of restoration. Sometimes this appears through simple acts, changed foods, healthier routines, or time taken for self-care.

There is an assumption that because Rose is not a psychoactive plant, a dieta with her will not be challenging however, Rose can be one of the most intense plant allies to work with. Her medicine has the ability to bring deep emotional processes to the surface: grief, trauma, unresolved feelings that need to be witnessed & released. She invites us to fully feel what is present.

Rose called me many years ago & the first plant I dieted. On day three, I broke my ankle, or rather she did, day fifteen, I broke my toe - all on my left foot. Twice, she stopped me in my tracks, forcing me into stillness, down into my roots, into to the primordial Mother, Aluna herself. And if that wasn’t enough she rekindled the connection with my estranged father after decades of silence.

Rose taught me the path of descent & that to truly bloom we must first meet what is buried within.

Her power does not come from altered states of consciousness, but from the depth of her relationship, wisdom, & ability to reveal what needs healing. She is a powerful ally of integrity & shows us where we are living out of alignment with our deeper truth. She reveals where our lives are out of alignment & encourages us to make changes that bring us closer to our authentic path.

She is a supportive ally for those ready to meet themselves deeply & does not allow us to hide from ourselves.

The petals teach us love, openness, & connection. The thorns teach us boundaries, discernment, & sovereignty. Rose reminds us that compassion does not mean absorbing other people's projections, fears, or emotions so we can remain open-hearted while also protecting ourselves.

This balance between softness & fierceness is one of the reasons Rose connects so strongly with Mary & Kali energy. In times of collective change, Rose's medicine offers important teachings around the Divine Feminine which is not about opposition or separation but about restoring balance, inclusivity, connection, & the understanding that everything is interconnected. When we care for ourselves, we care for the Earth, our communities, & each other.

Rose has this incredible ability to meet people exactly where they are & does not force an experience that someone is not ready for.

Although her medicine can be incredibly powerful, she teaches us how to dearmour the heart so our vulnerability & strength can coexist together.

Working with Rose is not for the faint hearted. She asks for commitment, honesty, presence, & respect. And in return she can become a lifelong ally, a companion through many seasons of growth, healing, & awakening.
