2009 Shou Puerh (Gong Ting)
Shou Puerh is often referred to as cooked or ripe puerh, & is produced through a wet-pile fermentation which ferments the tea before being compressed. During this process, the tea is piled, moistened & covered with thermal blankets to increase & maintain internal heat. The result is a dark, full-bodied brew with a relaxing energy.
This incredible Gong Ting refers to a grade of leaf that was traditionally reserved for Imperial Tribute tea. Made from young golden leaves & buds harvested in early spring, this tea is deep, with a sweet aftertaste. Having mellowed over the last 17 years in Malaysia, this is a bold, clean & velvety smooth Shou with a creamy liquor.
The Qi is uplifting for a shou, rising from the root of the forest floor.
